Name: Zelman Clock
Born: Unknown
Age: nearly 1,100
Class: N/A Vampire
Planet: Earth, with strongholds elsewhere throughout the 'verse

History:

Born sometime in the mid-tenth century on Earth, Zelman is one of the few remaining vampires to have survived long enough to see humanity expand into the universe as, by the time humanity discovered the mass effect relays, most of the younger generations hadn't been able to cope with the rapid advancement of humanity.

Most had either suffered from a growing madness or despair and died in their attempts to keep pace with and secret from humanity at large until very few beyond the source bloods - the true Old Bloods - remained, with so few left that the faction system faded from use.

Of those that remained, the majority keep themselves cloistered in their strongholds on Earth - primarily in Japan, Austria, and Switzerland - and they still convene once every five years to update one another.

It was during one of these meetings when they were faced with the realization of just how many species and inhabited planets existed, that it was finally decided to destroy the ashes of the defeated Source blood, Adam Wong, as decreed by Mochizuki Kotarou (the reincarnation of the other source blood, Alice Eve).

(Something they all agreed was a necessity, given that the Kowloon King's bloodline automatically turns anyone into a vampire with a bite alone instead of with the kiss of death - the process of bestowing a human with vampiric blood.)

After this, Kotarou's curiosity led him to leave Earth and see these other plants. Zelman thought it a good way to stave off boredom so he traveled with him and his protector - human turned vampire Mimiko.

(He also used this time to build a network of contacts throughout the systems for his... less than legal dealings.)

But the time spent in close proximity to the Sage bloodline had an unintended effect on Zelman: Kotarou's sense of morality, and even to a degree, his propensity to lean towards justice, had him doing things to help humanity.

Especially after humans started developing biotics because both Kotarou and Mimiko worried that the power would be too much for humans to handle without assistance.

They started by financially backing Conatix Industries and working with the researchers there to help develop the implants used for biotic humans. Unfortunately, Kotarou insisted that the company focus their efforts on finding those accidental first-generation biotics... so Zelman contributed by 'arranging' the accidental eezo exposures over human colonies to give them more people to work with.

Mimiko disappeared at the start of 2158, her empathic connection to Kotarou severed and presumed dead. Kotarou decided not to create another protector until he could find her and confirm her death.

Kotarou also encouraged the creation of the BAaT program, but the human board members did not want to appear weak by relying on the other races.

The BAaT program's run was short, ended in tragedy, and the company disbanded soon after so they focused their efforts on Synthetic Ind. instead, with the two of them moving their base of operations to Noveria.

During this time, Zelman began to branch out once more, falling back into old criminal habits. He built an extensive black market mods and weapons trading system that extends from Pax to the Terminus Systems and as far back as the Milky Way. He worked his way into the Shadow Broker's inner circle and established an operational hub on Omega, perfectly content to leave control of the rock in Aria's hands.

And it's here he met a young yet very interesting human - none other than Ikki. Someone with biotic abilities that seemed more vampiric than human or biotic.

The kid fascinated him, and that's something that hasn't happened in a long, long time. So what did he do?

He put the young man on the Shadow Broker's radar... and then helped him kill the old brute so he can take over. Just to see where Ikki would take the role.

(So far, he hasn't been disappointed.)

Unfortunately, while he was busy doing all of this, Kotarou became a primary investor in the Andromeda Initiative, and somehow gained Cerberus' attention. He began to suspect Cerberus for Mimiko's disappearance but neither of them was able to find proof.

It spooked him enough, however, that he decided to participate in the Andromeda Initiative, despite Zelman's protests (It seems foolish for a source blood to travel without protection to an unknown galaxy outside the reach of others of their kind) to get as far away from Cerberus as possible until the organization disbanded or was destroyed. He left on the first Ark in 2185, leaving all of their projects in Zelman's hands.

Through it all, Zelman has kept in close contact with Ikki. Sometimes meeting him at the resort he owns in the Swiss Alps, sometimes at the Citadel, and on occasion, on Illium.

Eyes on Fire

I'll seek you out,
Flay you alive
One more word and you won't survive
And I'm not scared of your stolen power
I see right through you any hour

I won't soothe your pain
I won't ease your strain
You'll be waiting in vain
I got nothing for you to gain

I'm taking it slow
Feeding my flame
Shuffling the cards of your game
And just in time
In the right place
Suddenly I will play my ace

I won't soothe your pain
I won't ease your strain
You'll be waiting in vain
I got nothing for you to gain

Eyes on fire
Your spine is ablaze
Felling any foe with my gaze

And just in time
In the right place
Steadily emerging with grace
